    Wolves On Parade!

Hey, check it out - new music from that Montreal band who will release an album later this year that everyone's been salivating over. (No, not THAT one.)

It's Wolf Parade! Offering us a little teaser from their upcoming album with "What Did My Lover Say (It Always Had to Go This Way)"!

The track's a little repetitive, but it's been growing on me. It wasn't until the third or fourth listen that I realized, hey, this chorus is actually kind of catchy — and those woo-oohs at the end are to die for.

Wolf Parade's third full-length album, "Expo 86" (not to be confused with the Death Cab for Cutie song of the same name), will be released on June 29 via SubPop.

Song of the Day: Family of the Year

"Songbook," the debut LP from folk-y sextet Family of the Year comes out today, and it's a warm, inviting, curl-up-with-a-blanket-by-the-fireplace wintertime record. Think CSNY- and Fleetwood Mac-esque harmonies, with a modern indie pop sensibility that expresses equal admiration for The Beatles and Belle and Sebastian.

All six of the band members — including brothers Joe and Sebastian Keefe — live together in Los Angeles and spend their nights writing and recording songs — and their camaraderie is evident throughout "Songbook."

Song of the Day: Still Life Still

Today's song of the day is in honor of Toronto's Still Life Still, who play the second show of their month-long residency at New York City's Mercury Lounge tonight.

Even though last year's "Girls Come Too" was their debut full-length release, the five guys have been playing together since they were 13 years old, and it shows. Their tight stage show and catchy harmonies place them a cut above your typical Canadian indie rock.

Still Life Still takes the stage at Mercury tonight at 8:30, and their two remaining shows are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 20 and Friday, Jan. 29. If you're in New York, check them out and thank me later.

Song of the Day: Fell On Black Days

Buried amidst the year-end top 10 lists in the past couple of weeks was a little tidbit of actual music news that looked ahead to 2010 rather than back at 2009: the announcement that the original members of grunge outfit Soundgarden would be reuniting. Exciting news — especially because this might be an indication that Chris Cornell will never. ever. work with Timbaland again (EVER! Seriously, Chris.).

Take a trip down '90s memory lane with "Fell On Black Days," from the band's 1994 juggernaut of an album, "Superunknown."

Attention, New Yorkers - as an added bonus, the song's title coincidentally ties in with the upcoming "Rage Against the Dying of the Light" kickoff party at Brooklyn's Bell House this Thursday, which will feature DJ sets from soldout's own Russ and Ben.

Nice when things work out like that, huh?
