You Say Party! We Say ... This is Kind of a Ripoff But We Like It Anyway.

OK, so check out this video from British Columbia's You Say Party! We Say Die! for the song "There is XXXX (Within My Heart)," which premiered earlier this week.

You Say Party! We Say Die! "There is XXXX (Within My Heart)" from the album XXXX. from Paper Bag Records on Vimeo.

Are you thinking, this is really great, but where have I heard it before?

That would be here -- Robin S's "Show Me Love," from 1993 (a.k.a. one of those ubiquitous early '90s one hit wonder dance jams that are indistinguishable from one another but all rock in their own way. See also: Snap!, Corona, La Bouche).

So, while that keyboard line is blatant thievery, YSP!WSD! are definitely high on my 2010 radar. The rest of the songs on their album "XXXX" (sensing a theme?), which was released earlier this month, are equally hooky but less derivative.

You Say Party! were tapped to play two shows at the Olympics this week, as a warmup for their March tour. Dates after the jump.

Song of the Day: Fell On Black Days

Buried amidst the year-end top 10 lists in the past couple of weeks was a little tidbit of actual music news that looked ahead to 2010 rather than back at 2009: the announcement that the original members of grunge outfit Soundgarden would be reuniting. Exciting news — especially because this might be an indication that Chris Cornell will never. ever. work with Timbaland again (EVER! Seriously, Chris.).

Take a trip down '90s memory lane with "Fell On Black Days," from the band's 1994 juggernaut of an album, "Superunknown."

Attention, New Yorkers - as an added bonus, the song's title coincidentally ties in with the upcoming "Rage Against the Dying of the Light" kickoff party at Brooklyn's Bell House this Thursday, which will feature DJ sets from soldout's own Russ and Ben.

Nice when things work out like that, huh?
