    Kelly, Kelly, Kelly ...

So ... listen to Kelly Clarkson's new HOT SUMMER JAM!!1!, "Naked Eye," brought to us by Idolator.

Then check this out - Arcade Fire's "Rebellion (Lies)," from their 2004 album "Funeral."

New York Magazine kind of called Kelly out on this when they posted the song, but JESUS. CHRIST. She'd better have a good copyright lawyer.

    Wolves On Parade!

Hey, check it out - new music from that Montreal band who will release an album later this year that everyone's been salivating over. (No, not THAT one.)

It's Wolf Parade! Offering us a little teaser from their upcoming album with "What Did My Lover Say (It Always Had to Go This Way)"!

Wolf Parade - What Did My Lover Say (It Always Had to Go This Way) by subpop

The track's a little repetitive, but it's been growing on me. It wasn't until the third or fourth listen that I realized, hey, this chorus is actually kind of catchy — and those woo-oohs at the end are to die for.

Wolf Parade's third full-length album, "Expo 86" (not to be confused with the Death Cab for Cutie song of the same name), will be released on June 29 via SubPop.

    Not so Terrible Love

Like probably a majority of the attendees at Hole’s show at Terminal 5 Monday night, I fully anticipated the evening to be a point-and-laugh spectacle, a game of “What drug cocktail is Courtney Love on tonight?” with maybe a few off-key songs thrown in for good measure. Let’s face it, the fact that the concert happened at all is in itself a minor miracle.

Suffice it to say, Courtney (and her new bandmates) didn’t just defy my expectations. She chewed them up, swallowed them, and regurgitated them over all the naysayers who’ve doubted her over the years.

    Apartment Story: An Horse

Our favorite Aussies, Kate Cooper and Damon Cox (a.k.a. An Horse) sat down for an Apartment Story session with Soldout last week before kicking off their tour with Kaki King in New York City, performing their latest single, "Postcards." (And treating us to some hilarious impromptu banter.)

These guys have been blowing my mind for about two years now, but I continue to be amazed that such a powerful sound can come from a bare bones guitar and drum duo. Not to mention the fact that they can write a hook like nobody's business.

Cooper mentioned that they hope to head into the studio this summer to record their sophomore album, and I for one will be waiting with baited breath. In the meantime, we'll have to rely on "Postcards" to tide us over. Check out the video for the plugged-in album version, which also premiered this week.

An Horse/Kaki King tour dates after the jump.

New Music Tuesday: A toast to Frightened Rabbit

I've basically been salivating for new music from Scottish quartet (now quintet) Frightened Rabbit since I first heard their last album, 2008's "The Midnight Organ Fight," and quickly became obsessed. At long last, they've returned with "The Winter of Mixed Drinks," which comes out today.

Don't be fooled by the jaunty first single "Swim Until You Can't See Land" (video above). "Winter" is the type of record that plunges you into icy waters (oceanic metaphors abound), and then pulls you out and wraps you in a warm blanket. It has more than its share of heartbreaking ballads, and that's where the band's strength really lies. Many of the songs are structured like waves - building slowly, with guitar reverb or a muted keyboard note, before they come crashing down in a cascade of emotion.

I really took a close listen to the record for the first time a couple weeks ago - on a day when I was holed up in my apartment, looking out the window at the massive blizzard I was avoiding outside. It was the perfect setting, with this music providing ample comfort.
