    Breadcrumb Dish

This shit has me fucking blunted. The Clams Casino ep, Rainforest, is on its way and it's a deep, reverberating slice of something magical.

    Rainforest EP by clammyclams

I don't mean to sound redundant, as you're going to be reading about this piece of Tri-angle Records goodness in basically any publication that does more than cover uncle-rock (so, yeah, not in PASTE, but that's fine, let your Uncle read PASTE, he's really curious what The Drive-By Truckers are up to), but this is an EP that's made for taking drugs and putting headphones on and wandering around in the summer heat. In that regard, it's a soul-cousin to Beck's Midnite Vultures. Clams is a little more haunted, though, and I think he's warning about something. It loses the plot, the EP does, at times, and stumbles through the titular jungle in search of...what? It remains to be seen what that is, but the sweaty, dirty taste of the Rainforest is enough to occupy one summer.

    heavy

New Clams Casino track from the beloved Tri Angle Records:

Clams Casino - Gorilla by TriAngleRecords

This is weird, dark, heavy and just massive. The beat literally sleeps and stumbles before surging back into play, a force, a hurricane in a fragile teacup. More, please.

    Swirling

We love visual artist/musician Laurel Halo. She's incredibly talented in various forms of media. She's one of the only members of the burgeoning Dark Dance (some would call it Witch House but we still don't know what that means) scene that updates her twitter account. She has a bevy of music available for free on her website, including her stellar King Felix EP.

She also recently handed in to RCRD LBL a morphling gem of a remix for BRAHMS of their song "Another Time". We'd host it here for your tasting, but as it's a RCRD LBL exclusive...you know the drill, it's here

The video for her "Embassy" is equally worth your time, a brain-melt of child-like glee.

Also, be sure to check her turn on the Tri Angle Records Let Me Shine For You mixtape, which we dissected to death already

    slow it again in 2010

The hills are alive with the sounds of Bieber.

For those hipsterly-but-passively interested in ambient and its fellow travelers, the reference point has been Sigur Ros since the late '90s. Then Along Came Bieber. Electronic musician (now minor celebrity) Shamantis changed the tempo of Bieber's "U Smile" by -800%, and when the dust from the kerfuffle settled, there were dozens of others slurring their own selections, now lovingly curated at Slow It Up. Think of it as chopped & screwed for white people. However, there's always been ambient worth listening to, from Wieland Samolak to Music For Cats To Sleep To. And now we have Balam Acab's debut EP: See Birds.

    don't block her shine, shawty

I have sold out. I admit it -- I'm a slave to the capricious whims of pop music. (I'm a Slave 4 U, Britney.) And like the stunning nike7up (who is subject to a forthcoming Soldout feature), I have a love/hate relationship with the idols I place on the pop pedestal. Lindsay Lohan is no different.
