Today begins the soldout #SXSW adventure. Every year, apparently, hundreds of new bands are plucked from the Austin wreckage and saved from their menial lives as baristas and music bloggers and thrust into the spotlight of fame, fortune, and buying drinks for music bloggers.
Personally, of this relatively unknown or new-to-American-soil bands, I'm really excited to check out Iamamiwhoami Chew Lips, an NME buzz band that actually seems to hold up to the hype coming at them from across the pond.
Bags are being packed. Tickets, too expensive, have been purchased. There's a sweet-ass pool on the roof of the hotel (not to be confused with the pool that wasn't on the roof of my highschool and that in fact was only mentioned to lock stupid, unsuspecting freshmen on said roof).
Yup: soldout is heading to South by Southwest, or SXSW if you speak Twitter.
Given the fact that I (this is Russ speaking as Russ, now, and addressing you: hashtagbreakingthefourthwall) come from a social media background and have, through other projects, access to the latest in cutting-edge technology, you're undoubtedly excited to see what tools will be put to use to chronicle the madness, the mayhem, the murder of our first SX?

sxsw In which soldout begins to join the fucking cacophony about SXSW.
Kristin talked to Marley for about an hour about Salem Friday Feb 26. It was crazy. The original schedule of the chat/listening party was only supposed to be three songs. It didn’t work out like that, which the girls suppose is often the case with SALEM. Once you start learning about their mythology and hearing the music, you get oddly sucked into their web. Below, you can listen along with Marley and Kristin. Draw your own conclusions, but you’ll definitely be as mystified as they were.
