Breaking News: Lilith Fair Cancels 10 More Dates

Well, the abysmal summer concert season continues. On the heels of musical cash cows like U2, Christina Aguilera and Rihanna scrapping concert dates or even entire tours, the organizers of Lilith Fair have just confirmed that 10 August dates on the women's music tour will be canceled.

The impacted cities are Salt Lake City, Montreal, Raleigh, Charlotte, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Birmingham, Austin, Houston and Dallas. Refunds are available at points of purchase.

Rumors of the cancellations were swirling earlier this week after poor ticket sales. Dates in Nashville and Phoenix had already faced the chopping block.

“Everyone involved with the tour would like to apologize to the fans and artists scheduled to play in these markets, and express appreciation for all the support for the festival’s return," said Lilith co-founder Terry McBride. "Lilith remains the only tour of its kind, and we are confident that fans will be amazed by what each date has to offer.”

This summer's tour was to mark the comeback of the festival highlighting female musicians after an 11-year hiatus. Among the artists scheduled to appear on select dates this summer are La Roux, Sia, Gossip, Tegan & Sara, and founder Sarah McLachlan.

    More to come ...
