    Happy Belated Birthday, Michael Stipe

So, we're a little slow on the uptake, but in honor of Michael Stipe's 50th birthday (which was Monday. whoops.), Russ, Ben and I decided to engage in a little debate about what we feel are the top R.E.M. songs of all time. Now, Russ and I have had conversations about the fact that R.E.M. is among both of our Top Artists of All Time (Russ is from Georgia; that's a given), but we've never actually gotten down to specific material. Until now.

    And oh yeah, Ben cheated.

Liz's Top 5 R.E.M. Songs of All Time:

    5. "You Are the Everything" (Green, 1988)

    4. "So. Central Rain" (Reckoning, 1984)

    3. "Losing My Religion" (Out of Time, 1991)

    2. "E-Bow the Letter" (New Adventures in Hi-Fi, 1996)

    1. "Country Feedback" (Out of Time, 1991)

Russ' Top 5 R.E.M. Songs of All Time:

    5. "Hope" (Up, 1998)

    4. "Crush With Eyeliner" (Monster, 1994)

    3. "Strange Currencies" (Monster, 1994)

    2. "E-Bow the Letter" (New Adventures in Hi-Fi, 1996)

    1. "So. Central Rain" (Reckoning, 1984)

    Ben's Fake List:

    5. "The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite"

    1-4. "Nightswimming"
